The Mansfield Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association (CFA) was established in 2005 to support, assist and raise funds for the Mansfield Fire Rescue. Funds are raised for non-budgeted items that might be needed for the Honor Guard, Pipe and Drums, education programs such as the Fire Clowns, equipment, etc.
Members of the CFA volunteer and support Fire Rescue with many events such as their open house, awards banquet, public safety day and annual festivals along with educating the public on how the department works and interacts with the community starting with our original Citizens Fire Academy class.
Each CFA member has attended a ten-week training course that's taught ANNUALLY each spring. The course covers: CPR; how accident, medical, and fire scenes are handled and dispatched to all four of Mansfield's fire stations; what we can do if we come upon a scene as an individual; the inner workings of the fire department from equipment to personnel responsibilities of each fire fighter and officer, (i.e. fire fighter, engineer, lieutenant, captain, battalion chief, assistant chief, fire marshal and fire chief); vehicle extrication; medic and engine capabilities; hands-on live fire training; ride outs on the engine; household safety; how to properly use a fire extinguisher; and much more.
Being a member of the Mansfield Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association also qualifies you to be a member of the Texas CFA chapter, which meets quarterly and assists the local CFA with how to become a more productive association.
